I recently installed my copy of QuickBooks Pro on a new computer. I headed over to download. Ran QB, updates, 5GB download still, and still dialup speed. I ran back over to downloads. Is there a direct download or something I can do to fix this issue other than buy a new version of QB or worse, subscribe to the online version?

I did a major update the other day for QB and it took about 10 minutes. Way too slow, but not as you’re describing. That’s what I would expect, it’s only 6. I’ll continue to poke at it.
